A Northampton County man faces a host of sex assault charges for allegedly fostering a sexual relationship with a former elementary school student that he eventually hired as a babysitter. Mohlmann began setting the groundwork for the sexual relationship that would last for nearly seven years, while the girl was a 12-year-old student at Harmony Township Elementary School in Warren County, N. In July 2015, Pennsylvania State Police with the Belfast barracks were assigned to investigate reports of an ongoing student-teacher relationship that was initially investigated by the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities in Pennsylvania picked up the investigation, when it was learned the alleged crimes took place at Mohlmann’s Upper Mount Bethel Township home.

In July 2015, investigators interviewed the victim, who said Mohlmann had been her math teacher at Harmony elementary in sixth, seventh and eighth grades.

Mohlmann allegedly began privately communicating with the girl on-line, when she was in the seventh grade.

Those communications became sexual in nature while she was in eighth grade, and investigators said Mohlmann arranged in June 2008 to have the girl babysit his children at his home in the 500 block of Laurel Hill Road after she graduated from Harmony Elementary.

Investigators said the then 32-year-old Mohlmann began a sexual relationship with the girl when she was 14 years old.

She continued to babysit for her former teacher, and the two had sexual relations “on multiple occasions” at his home.

He also allegedly provided the teen with alcohol, specifically vodka.

As part of his bail conditions, Mohlmann is to have no contact with the victim and no contact with any children other than his own with adult supervision.

His next court date is a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled for May 27.

Mohlmann’s status with the school district is unclear at this time.
